The issues & solutions when having employee diversity in the workplace.
Introduction:
Diversity is a set of conscious practices that involve understanding and
appreciating interdependence of humanity, cultures, and the natural environment;
practicing mutual respect for qualities and experiences that are different from
our own; understanding that diversity includes not only ways of being but also
ways of knowing; recognizing that personal, cultural, and institutionalized
discrimination creates and sustains privileges for some while creating and
sustaining disadvantages for others; and building alliances across differences
so that we can work together to eradicate all forms of discrimination (Patrick
& Kumar, 2012).
Types of the diversity:
The range of things that outline variety is surely unlimited. Throughout an individual’s life, the precise biological and genetic predispositions, stories and training adjust who they're as a person. These stories are what diversify and evolve the community, permitting people to attach and research from every other.

The Issue:
The workplace lacks variety. It simplest hires the equal kind of human beings with the equal ideas. The trouble is it may be illegal, in particular in case you don’t have legitimate motives for rejecting applicants who're women or human beings of color. Racism can live on as a diffused undercurrent in our society—even if the maximum well-which means amongst us aren’t aware about it.
Therefore, we
can’t simply coast alongside and count on that if we don’t do something bad, then the trouble will simply cross away. A loss of variety also can stifle the company’s capacity to be innovative and innovative.
The Solution:
Start looking in new places to find a more diverse pool of candidates.
Reach out to job boards that target minorities, ask your minority employees for
referrals and make prominent mention of your company’s attitude toward
inclusion in your job postings. A good ATS can help widen your search by having
access to a wide range of job boards. An employee referral program that is well-communicated to
employees, easy to access, simple to participate in, and clear about
expectations and outcomes, will help to encourage more diverse referrals.
Improving workplace diversity also requires creating a company culture that
more inclusive.
- Train managers and employees on
diversity and inclusivity. Create an
ongoing diversity group and allow anyone to join. Train
the group on language or behavior that should be called out as racist or
intolerant. Your managers and staff should be
able to identify and address these acts on the spot.
- Include inclusion in your company initiatives. Leadership needs to push inclusiveness and equality in the workplace. As inclusion can only be measured by feeling, leadership needs to set the tone for a working environment where each individual feels safe, valued, accepted, respected and supported. Announce a zero-tolerance policy for works or actions that harass or bully others or dismiss minority points of view.
